In this Month’s Issue:
  • Ground Hog says Spring IS coming - YAY!

  • Kevin Singh’s Story.

  • A BIGGER Mission ahead.

Who Cares if the Ground Hog got it right.
Spring is STILL Coming. I promise.

Spring is Springing! Yay! I just came inside from shooting a video outside and WOW! It’s nice out! Yes, I realize that when you get this and read it, that it could be cold with snow on the ground, but those cold days are just about over. Everyone loves Spring, primarily because it means… summer is near!

For many across this great country though, it’s still COLD, grey, and snowy! One thing for sure, this winter season is coming to an end. It does every year without fail.

Just like the weather seasons come and go, so do the seasons of life. I’ll turn 64 this year and my eldest grandson will turn 5 this year. Are you with me when I say that these seasons seem to come and go faster and faster as well as the time? My wife reminded me recently we have shared 44 of my birthday’s together.

Some of life’s seasons will be HOT and others will be COLD, some high and some low. Such if life. The lows we want to move by quickly, the highs we want to stay forever. But, it’s the low points, those tough times, that I have learned the most from. All of the experiences through these seasons make me who I am.

So, what does this have to do with you and real estate?

Spring is a time of action, a heating up of the desire for a new place to call home for many.  Maybe you or someone you know is right now looking or considering it.  That’s great!  We are here to help with that.  Whether it be a list of the 10 best buys matching home buying criteria, or delivering top dollar on a home sale along with our written guarantee of the asking price, our award winning SYSTEM and TEAM are eager to help.

Unfortunately, there are some that will have a Spring Time they would much rather forget.

With all the beauty this Spring time brings, there is also the ugly for some. Just up the street from where I’m typing this, Trillium Health Partners is doing there utmost to help many kids and their families… our neighbours… in crisis. For them, Spring time is the furthest thing from their mind. Don’t get me wrong, these families long to be with their kids out in the yard playing or riding their bikes - but for now, they are praying for help.

Over the years, we’ve helped many Mississauga families sell their home and/or buy another. We’ve met some wonderful, loving, caring people.

Meet Kevin Singh!

Kevin was due to be married in a few weeks when his heart stopped. It was the end of the work week and Kevin was now home and watching TV. But he was bothered by a pain in his chest that wouldn’t go away. His fiancée, Savi, urged him to go the Emergency Department (“ED”).

Only 34 and never sick, Kevin finally agreed and they went to the ED at Trillium Health Partners’ (“THP”) Credit Valley Hospital. When he arrived, his heart stopped and he collapsed to the floor. He was having a heart attack.

A Code Blue was called and, as Savi remembers, the ED team came running, began compressions and tried to restart his heart with a Defibrillator.

The moments dragged on and Savi heard someone say, “No pulse” and saw the team members looking at each other – and she began to fear the worst. She pleaded with them, “We’re supposed to get married in three weeks and we’ve promised each other so many things. Please keep trying.”

Kevin’s limbs kept moving during the compressions, “So we knew you were there, and knew you were fighting,” said a team member. After a very long 38 minutes, his heart began beating again. Kevin was then rushed to Mississauga Hospital, where the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab team opened up the blockage that almost killed him.

A year later, now married, Kevin and Savi returned to the ED to say thanks to the team that saved his life.

After hugs and some tears, Kevin told the THP team that “Because of you guys I get to be here …. So I promise I will be the best version of myself.”

Savi added, “Keep doing what you’re doing. You gave me back my husband – thank you!”

Donor support is essential to our ability to provide rapid, life-saving care for Kevin and thousands of others like him – who have their entire lives in front of them.

“You guys are part of something great and give people like me a second chance at life. There are no words than can express my gratitude.”

– Kevin Singh, Heart Attack Survivor

Why I Support Trillium Health Partners (THP) of Mississauga

For 40 years, my family and I have been proud to call Mississauga home. I remember when I first heard about a young person close to our family suffering from a nasty disease and getting treated for it at what’s now known as Trillium Mississauga. My wife, a nurse, worked there in Paediatrics. It was then that I began to pay closer attention to the work they do for our benefit.

For seven years ending in 2009, I volunteered my time, expertise and energy on the Credit Valley Board of Directors helping to oversee its management and expansion as it grew into what we know THP to be today. Since then, I've learned that it is a collection of hard-working health care professionals, most also making their home right here in Mississauga, all coming together for a common cause.

I take pride in using my real estate business to give back and support the good work these people do at THP’s.  My team rally's around our annual goal of raising money and donating portions of our income to help THP’s in their quest to heal our Mississauga kids and families when they need healing.

My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our friends, neighbours, colleagues and clients.   I have discovered that THP’s shares similar commitments to their patients.  And since their care and services survive on charitable donations, we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.

I encourage you to visit their websites at TrilliumGiving.ca and TrilliumHealthPartners.ca and check out how they are making a difference in the lives of our Mississauga children and their families every single day!
